Relaxe Through Building and Releasing Tension
Modern life is stressful. Work, relationships, responsibilities, and the world around us can leave the body and mind carrying tension. When stress is not released, it builds over time and can make it harder to rest, sleep, and concentrate.
Relaxation helps reverse this cycle. When the body relaxes, the mind becomes calmer. When the mind becomes calmer, focus and willpower become stronger. But true relaxation does not mean distracting ourselves in front of a screen. It means learning how to quiet the thoughts and bring awareness back to something neutral, like the breath or the body.
Relaxation is an art. Practicing Naukasana helps you feel the contrast between effort and ease, making it easier to recognize where you are holding stress and consciously letting it go.
Naukasana is a full body tension and release practice. It may feel counterintuitive at first because you begin by creating tension. But by consciously tightening the whole body and then fully releasing it, you train the body to recognize the difference between holding on and letting go.

Continue this cycle of tension and release for 6 minutes, moving at your own natural pace. There is no set number of repetitions. Simply allow each cycle to feel complete before beginning the next.
Base Position: Lie flat on your back with your legs straight and together. Rest your arms alongside your body with your palms facing downward. Allow your whole body to soften into the ground. Take a few breaths counting in for 5 and then exhaling for 5 before beginning.
Full Body Tension: As you inhale, tense every muscle in your body from head to toe. At the same time, lift your arms, legs, and back off the ground, creating a slight arch through the whole body. Hold your breath and maintain the tension for as long as you comfortably can.
Release the Tension: When you are ready to release, exhale fully as you slowly lower your body back down to the ground, allowing every muscle to completely let go. Pause in stillness before beginning the next round.

A breath, a pause, a practice. DearKali invites you to explore what supports you, question what no longer fits, and make space for the life you want to live.
